City of Gloucester

Gloucester has a population of 29,729 (2020 census). The Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer of the City and is elected for a two-year term at each biennial municipal election.

The Gloucester City Council consists of nine member. Four members, known as councilors at-large, are nominated and elected by the voters of the City, at-large; and five members, known as ward councilors, are nominated and elected by the voters of five City wards, one ward councilor elected from each ward. Councilors are elected to 2-year terms in municipal elections held every two years in odd-numbered years.
