Donald Trump seems to spend his days golfing and signing unconstitutional executive orders. Two more federal court judges just halted executive orders Trump signed to punish law firms who displeased him for one reasons or another. And one of the Republican-appointed judges, Judge Richard Leon, had some choice words for the absurd arguments that were made in court by Trump's DOJ lawyers, saying: "Have you ever practiced law? Have you had clients? Then use your common sense." This video reviews these two recent rulings and the judges who made them.

Move Fast and Destroy Democracy
The following is an excerpt from an essay that has been adapted from the epilogue of Swisher’s book Burn Book: A Tech Love Story.
For tech leaders at this moment, the digital world they rule has become not enough. Leaders, in fact, is the wrong word to use now. Titans is more like it, as many have cozied up to Trump in order to dominate this world as we enter the next Cambrian explosion in technology, with the development of advanced AI.
When combined with a lack of empathy and enormous financial self-interest… it is basically a familiar trope: greed (of the few) over need (of the many).
And that has resulted in the damaging and warping and siloing of us all, courtesy of many of the people I wrote about in my book Burn Book: A Tech Love Story, about the promise and then souring of Silicon Valley. It is these characters who want to reign like kings not just over tech, but over everything everywhere, and all at once. To update the old Facebook maxim of “Move fast and break things”: Move fast and crush everyone. This was bad enough as a business axiom, but when it’s applied to the entire apparatus of our democracy, it’s terrifying.
To be fair, Musk’s efforts were once certainly loftier… That is, until his epic megalomania, personal foibles, and other deep-seated character flaws—which had always been there, lurking—took over his mind completely and sent it into the outer limits.
After years of mocking Trump, Musk changed drastically during COVID and became ever more manic and cruel, as he swung hard right down conspiracy highway.
As of this writing, tens of thousands of Americans in government roles have already been fired by Elon’s tech toadies. Musk has gotten rid of regulators who just happen to oversee his businesses, in agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and USAID.
The possible exit from the mess we now find ourselves in—swimming in oceans of information with an ever-decreasing number of facts to keep us afloat. Except, unlike the expansion that tech gave to the enlightened before, the institutions of today, such as media, science, and education, are being slowly destroyed by technology. And there seems to be no way out of this world, especially as egomaniacal entrepreneurs like Musk and others fork over small pieces of their vast fortunes to buy up everything from global media to, yes, a president of the United States.
Big Development in NYC Mayor Eric Adams Case
Donald Trump's Department of Justice officials have been trying to dismiss the criminal prosecution against New York City Mayor Eric Adams without prejudice, meaning they could continue holding the prosecution over his head as leverage. Judge Dale Ho appointed an outside attorney to brief and argue the issue, given that the DOJ prosecutors and defendant Adams are lockstep in their positions, and no one is truly representing the interests of the American people. The outside lawyer, Paul Clement, just filed a 33-page brief arguing that the DOJ should not be permitted to dismiss the case without prejudice - meaning they could indict Adams again on the same charges any time they wanted. Clements said this is like DOJ "hanging the sword of Damocles over Adams' head." This video takes a look at this new court filing in the Eric Adams case.

Supreme Court Rules Against Trump!
In one of the first cases brought against the Trump administration to reach the Supreme Court, a five-justice majority just ruled that Trump must comply with a lower court order to pay money owed to USAID contractors for work already performed. The court rejected Trump's efforts to avoid paying what the government owed to the contractors.
This is an important signal that the Supreme Court - at least five justices - will not just roll over and allow every executive branch power grab attempted by Trump and company.

Prime Minister Trudeau speaks directly to the American people
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Tuesday that sweeping tariffs by U.S. President Donald Trump are “a very dumb thing to do,” while warning Canadians of a “tough road ahead."
Trudeau made the comments after the first round of U.S. tariffs and Canada’s counter-tariffs went into effect Tuesday, marking the start of a trade war between the long-time North American allies.
“To my fellow Canadians, I won’t sugarcoat it. This is going to be tough, even though we’re going to pull together because that’s what we do,” he said at a press conference in Ottawa.
In addition to the counter-tariffs, Ottawa will also file dispute resolution claims at the World Trade Organization and through the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

Back home there was widespread support for Ukraine’s president, but also dismay at his car-crash encounter in the Oval Office.
Ukrainians have rallied behind Volodymyr Zelenskyy after his mauling on Friday in the White House, and have accused Donald Trump and the US vice-president, JD Vance, of deliberately and cynically “starting a brawl”.
There was widespread support for Ukraine’s president at home and dismay at his car-crash encounter in the Oval Office. There was also praise for Zelenskyy’s insistence that a peace deal without security guarantees was meaningless, and that Russia could not be trusted.
